Wed Jan. 31st 2018
ASST has paid tribute to a great humanitarian and community leader, Dr Hashem Slaimankhel who lost his life in a terrorist attack while visiting Afghanistan.
The Board, staff and clients of ASST would like to acknowledge the immense community work Dr Slaimankhel had done throughout his life, helping others and giving back to various communities in New Zealand.
As noted by ASST Supporter, Race Relations Commissioner Susan Devoy, Dr Slaimankhel was "a humble man and a leader who worked and volunteered to ensure his people, particularly Muslim women and children, have support and opportunities."
Dr Slaimankhel provided invaluable support to many of ASST's clients and will be sorely missed by us all. We are saddened by his tragic death and extend our sincere condolences to his family.
